Training seminars on "Journalism Lessons for the Blind" completed

On April 30, training seminars and the presentation of the project “Training journalism for young people and children from 12 years of age with physical disabilities due to diseases of the eye and adnexa “Journalism Lessons for the Blind” ended.


The project was implemented using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for social services, social support and protection of citizens, provided by the Presidential Grants Fund.


In the project "Lessons journalism  for the blind  professionals and enthusiasts are involved in developing inclusive additional education for young people and children with diseases of the eye and its adnexa — teachers, tiflopedagogues, psychologists, managers and employees of educational and rehabilitation centers, regional centers of the All-Russian societies for the blind, parents of children with disabilities.


Thanks to the Presidential Grants Foundation, as well as the team of authors - Olga Chirkova and Alexei Samoletov, a new unique textbook has been released that will allow children with visual problems to get acquainted with the basics in audio format profession of a journalist. The textbook contains several sections, studying which you can learn about the genres of journalism, stylistic features, as well as the history of foreign and domestic journalism. 


More than 1,000 copies of the textbook were given to young people with visual disabilities, as well as workers of rehabilitation centers and libraries for use in their professional activities.


During the implementation of the project, a survey was conducted, which made it possible to determine the level of social adaptation of children from 12 years old and young people of the target group. To assess the interest among young people and children with visual impairments in the further development of their creative abilities. At the same time, a preliminary assessment of the satisfaction of the target groups with digital educational materials was carried out with the aim of further use in inclusive additional education. The level of awareness of parents of children with visual impairments about additional opportunities for planning a professional career was assessed.
