The youth of Mongolia are planning a charity event to help flood victims in the Irkutsk region

The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia informed the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly that the Joint Council of Mongolian Graduates of Foreign Universities approached them with the initiative to organize a Charity Action in support of victims of natural disasters in the Irkutsk region.

This youth initiative was approved by the President of Mongolia, Khaltmaagiin Battulga, who expressed sincere condolences and support to Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the losses as a result of a large-scale flood in the Irkutsk region. The President of Mongolia announced in the country the collection of funds and essentials for the victims.

Also, at the level of the President of Mongolia, a decision was made to invite children in the amount of up to 100 people from flood-affected areas of the Irkutsk region from July 15. Children will have a rest in the best summer camps and get acquainted with the culture and sights of Mongolia.

Recall that since June 25 in six districts of the Irkutsk region: Nizhneudinsky, Taishetsky, Tulunsky, Chunsky, Ziminsky and Kuitunsky, 98 settlements were flooded . In total, water entered 10,133 houses, where 32,902 people live, including 7,852 children.

As of Wednesday morning, July 3, 31 settlements in three districts remain flooded: Tulunsky, Chunsky and Taishetsky , including the city of Tulun.

As a result of the flood, 18 people died - their bodies were found. The fate of 8 people is unknown, their search continues. As early as Tuesday, July 2, 13 people were listed as missing in the evening, but five were found alive.

An emergency mode is in effect in the Irkutsk Region.
