Denis Knyazev, photographer, author of the project “Weddings of the Peoples of the World: World Cultural Heritage”, together with the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly, is preparing a continuation of the project on the traditional Nenets wedding.


On November 10, as part of the project, an online meeting was held with the participation of Grigory Ledkov, Chairman of the Public Council of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation, member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation from the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, and Svetlana Smirnova, First Deputy Secretary General - Head of the General Secretariat of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.

About the project

"Weddings of the peoples of the world: a world cultural heritage" is an international research ethnographic project created in 2015 to preserve the wedding traditions of the peoples of the world as a monument of international cultural heritage. Based on the results of reconstructions of weddings of different peoples of the world and photography, a book is being published about the wedding traditions of the chosen region and its presentation in a specific country and at the UN headquarters. The project was approved by UNESCO, the ministries of culture of several countries and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The project partner is the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly.
