On May 11, 2022, in Uzbekistan, the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly Andrey Belyaninov welcomed the participants of the Tashkent Forum "People's diplomacy - mutual understanding for the sake of development".


“The topic of the forum “People's Diplomacy - Mutual Understanding for Development” is especially relevant at the present time. The importance of today's conversation lies in the search for new areas of interaction.


The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, being a powerful engine of people's diplomacy, builds relations between people, civil societies, nations and civilizations based on a combination of national and universal values, norms, rules, traditions, interests and goals.


Today, members of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly are representatives of non-governmental organizations from more than 50 countries. We see people's diplomacy in all its diversity. The network technologies created by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly have led to the development of new forms of diplomacy. The Eurasian Peoples' Assembly is being actively formed as an international platform that affirms the ideology of peace, benevolent good neighborliness between peoples through multilateral cooperation and people's diplomacy.

The Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly spoke about the World Public Summit being prepared by the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly. Andrey Belyaninov made a proposal to Uzbekistan to become the country of the First World Public Summit.


“Uzbekistan is of particular interest as a country in which economic reforms are actively promoted, interethnic peace and harmony are preserved, and the historical and cultural traditions of the people are carefully revered. Uzbekistan has something to show to the whole world by gathering world public leaders in its country,” said the Secretary General of the Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly.


He stressed that "the joint search for new solutions and the development of strategies, the strengthening and development of mutual contacts will undoubtedly contribute to the formation of a common atmosphere of trust between countries and peoples."

Recall that the Forum of People's Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) under the motto "People's Diplomacy - Mutual Understanding for the Sake of Development" takes place from 11 to 12 May in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). The forum is attended by representatives of the parliaments of the SCO member countries, international organizations, NGOs and research and analytical centers (more than 120 participants).

The program of the forum includes two plenary sessions “The role of public diplomacy in international cooperation” and “Public diplomacy is an important element of modern interstate communication: the experience of the SCO member states”.


Forum participants will discuss ways to effectively use the tools of public diplomacy in order to strengthen multifaceted ties between the countries of the "SCO family". As a result of the forum, it is planned to adopt the Tashkent Communiqué of SCO People's Diplomacy.
