At the entrance, everyone was given a holiday symbol - a bell.  The first bell dedicated to the Day of Peace was cast from coins thrown in memory of the greatest tragedy of mankind, the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In 1954, this bell rang for the first time in New York, and continues to sound every year in different parts of the globe.

“We joined the International Day because we believe that the world will win! We must help each other, I believe in the best,” says Thai Ambassador to Russia Thanatip Upatising.
